Girl Time

My mom offered to keep these cuties today so that Jenn and I could enjoy a baby free lunch and pedicure. It was much needed and appreciated! Thanks so much Mom for watching our little guys - we love you!

Tyler - 2 months

Dear Tyler,

Where is the time going? It is unbelievable to me that you are already two months old. I so wish I could slow down time and keep you this size forever. We are still loving every single minute with you.

This month has brought some huge changes. Every day seems to bring something new and it’s so fun to watch you grow and learn new things. You have been such an angel since you turned six weeks old and we got your acid reflux under control. Dr. Mitchell put you on prevacid and it seems to be working. You still spit up a TON (especially when Mommy is dressed) but don’t seem to be in near as much as pain as before. We had a rough time between weeks 4 and 5 but you seem to be doing so much better now.

SLEEP

We still don’t really have a set routine. You’ve been sleeping in your nap nanny in our room because of your acid reflux. I think we are going to transition you to your crib once you are 10 weeks. We talked to the doctor and he recommended we not move you until you are down to one feeding a night. You’ve been pretty consistent with one feeding a night though so I think it’s about time. This makes Mommy sad and happy at the same time. Sad that you’re old enough to sleep in another room but happy because you are such a noisy sleeper. You grunt and make noises constantly which wake Mommy up all night. You still aren’t a great napper. You take a few cat naps throughout the day but don’t really take any long naps. Every once in a while if I lay you on your belly (on your tummy time pillow) you’ll take a good nap. I just have to watch you extra carefully.

FEEDING

You’re still feeding about every 2.5-3 hours, except at night when you’re going 4-6 hours. You are still doing great at nursing and still love eating! We started giving you a few bottles here and there and you’ve done extremely well and don’t seem to have any issues with taking a bottle. You also seem to spit up a little less after having a bottle.

DIAPER SIZE

You’ve moved up to a size 1. We had to switch diapers due to your terrible diaper rash. You were allergic to Pampers so now we’re using Seventh Generation which are chlorine, perfume, dye, etc. free and you’re doing much better. We’ve been to see Dr. Mitchell several times in an attempt to get rid of your rash but after numerous prescription creams, ointments, etc., switching diapers, going diaper less, drying your bottom with a hair dryer and several other things, we’ve decided you just poop too much and it’s irritating your sensitive skin. Our plan for now is to wait until you’re a little older and aren’t going number 2 quit as much to see if your rash gets any better. There are days I think this rash will be the death of me but I’m hopeful it will go away soon.

You still have TONS of dark brown hair. I don’t think you’ve lost a single strand since birth. It’s almost always the first thing people comment on when they see you. When I hold you during the day I constantly run my fingers through – it’s so soft.

MILESTONES

You have started to smile and giggle and it just melts my heart. I can usually get lots of smiles out of you first thing in the morning right after you’ve nursed. Dad can usually get some smiles out of you too with his goofiness. You’ve also started to “communicate” – you coo and make noises all the time. It’s so cute to hear you talk. There is a mirror on your play mat that you recently discovered and you just stare at yourself. It totally mesmerizes you. You’ve also started grabbing things – your hair, my hair, my fingers, daddy’s shirt – you’ve got quite the death grip. You continue to get more alert by the day and also have super strong legs – you just kick and kick. You still enjoy looking at lights, out the window and watching the ceiling fan.

The last two months with you have been amazing. Sometimes it’s hard to remember what our life was like before we had you. Your Dad and I still talk about how perfect you are and how we can’t believe you’re really ours. You are the best thing that’s ever happened to us and we love you so much it hurts.

Parker's Sip and See

Pamela, Jessica and I hosted a Sip and See for Jenn and Parker today. Everything turned out so cute and lots of people got to meet Baby Parker. Jenn is one of my best friends and sorority sisters from A&M. Her little guy and mine are only nine days apart so its really been fun getting to share this special time with her.

The decorations were all yellow and gray (to match her nursery) and we served a mixture of lunch and breakfast items, cookies & cupcakes, bellinis and "church punch". Jenn's husband declared any punch that doesn't contain alcohol church punch. HA!

On Saturday evening my mom kept Tyler so Matt and I and my sister and John could go out to dinner. We went to Common Table originally but the wait was so long that we left (but not before we shared a pitcher of mojitos) and went to Horne and Decker. Several people Matt works with had recommended it so we decided to give it a try. Fortunately, there wasn't a wait because we were starving. We were only gone about three hours but I couldn't wait to get home to my little guy. Not sure how I'm going to be able to go back to work - the thought of being away from him for that long just kills me.

Lazy Day

We've just been lazy today and have hung out at the house. Tyler is getting lots of love from his Grammy. It's amazing to me how quickly these days go by even when we really don't do anything.

Fourth of July

We headed to Houston this year to celebrate the Fourth. We were a little hesitant to make the five hour drive again but decided to take our chances. Tyler was a champ and we only had to stop one time to feed him.

On Saturday evening we left Tyler with Grammy and went to dinner at PF Changs. My Dad proposed to his girlfriend Donna and it was fun for all of us to be there to celebrate. Dinner was delicious and was one of the few times I've had alcohol since Tyler was born. Needless to say I enjoyed every drop :) We were only gone about 3 hours but I couldn't wait to get home to my little guy.

On Sunday we went over to my Dad's to swim and eat. Well, I just went to eat because this body doesn't dare put on a bathing suit. There was lots of yummy food - hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, fruit salad, etc. I had to skip out on most of it since I still can't eat dairy. We had lots of fun and Tyler got lots of attention. He got to wear 2 of his 5 Fourth of July outfits but of course I only got a picture of him in one of them. I've got to be better about taking pictures.

On Monday morning we headed back to Dallas and Grammy joined us. She is coming to stay another two weeks with us - yay!! Tyler and I are very excited to have her stay with us. I'm so thankful Tyler was born in May so that my mom can spend so much time with us.
